Last month I made this felted gossamer top using a variety of yarns and threads.  Artist, Diane Bykowski, taught this fun felting technique recently in a class at Sew from the Heart in Scottsdale, AZ.  Diane was introduced to the technique in the book, Crazy Felt, by Jeannette Knake, published by Search Press.  The primary foundation for this felting process is water-soluble stabilizer.  This felting technique enables  fiber artists to create fabulous, unique garments.

Pretty Bird Mixed Media Art Quilt

This mixed-media collage art quilt is the second in a Pretty Bird quilt series on my design wall.  Quilt One in the series is currently displayed at Sew From the Heart in Scottsdale, AZ, where I will teach a class on 1/25/13 regarding  the techniques involved in creating these art quilts.  Mixed media elements incorporated in this quilt include a piece of dress pattern tissue paper, coffee-dyed cheesecloth, scrapbook embellishments, rubber stamped images,  buttons, scraps of lace and yarn, a postage stamp, and some simple hand embroidery.   Quilt dimensions:  10" X 12".
